Kelly Jessup

Kelly Jean Jessup, of Columbus, passed away on January 11, 2025. Born on December 19, 1964, in Columbus, Indiana, Kelly's warmth and creativity touched all who knew her throughout her 60 years of life. She departed in the same town where she was born, surrounded by the comforting embrace of her family. Kelly is cherished in memory by her devoted father, Fred L. Allman, and she joins her mother, Virginia Lee Oathout Allman, in eternal rest. Her life was a sharing of love and joy with her husband, Greg Alan Jessup, whom she married on August 20, 1988. Their union was a testament to enduring partnership and familial devotion. The bonds of love continue through her sons, Trevor Alan Jessup of Columbus, Indiana, and Travis Clark Jessup (Leigha Bruning) of Columbus, and are celebrated in the laughter of her adored grandson, Tatum Alan Jessup. Kelly is also survived by her brother, Scott (Sandy) Allman of Columbus, and her sister, Audrey (Steven) Demino of Winter Haven, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her miniature schnauzer, Bella, was an extension of her family and a sweet source of comfort. Kelly graduated from Columbus East High School in 1983. After high school, she worked with her father at his State Farm agency while attending college courses in the evening. Kelly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University in 1995. She continued working with State Farm as a claims representative before joining the family restaurant business as Director of Finance for their Max Erma’s franchise. Kelly retired in 2011 when the family sold the business. She enjoyed devoting all of her time to her family and friends. An embodiment of love and creativity, Kelly fostered a home in Bartholomew County that was a sanctuary of seasonal beauty and hospitality. Her passion for decorating, her meticulous care for her home, and the serene walks with her beloved Bella by the pond were reflections of her appreciation for life’s simple joys. Kelly was the heart of family gatherings, her warmth and attention to detail making every occasion a cherished moment. A funeral service celebrating Kelly’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Jewell–Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Field officiating. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. until the service. She will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery.
