Jacob Scott Adams

Jacob Scott Adams passed away on May 12, 2025, in his hometown of Columbus, Indiana. Born on August 10, 1993, to parents Andrew Scott and Dale Ann Adams, Jake lived life with a laid back, casual attitude that put everyone he met at ease. He was blessed with many close relationships and a multitude of happy memories. Jake was loved by his family, including his sisters Danielle Brown and son Lincoln Brown, and Brandi (Robert) Schwering and nieces Macy and Madison Miller. Though his grandparents, Jeanie Gravins, HC & Maude Adams, and Dale Gravins, predeceased him, his aunts and uncles – Danny (Sheryl) Adams, Terri Engleking, and Gwen (Steve) Pattingill – along with this many cousins, which include special friendships with Aaron Stickans and Adrian Adams will miss him and cherish many memories of his fun and light-hearted spirit. Jake also had an unbreakable bond with his “adopted” brother, Chris “Bean” Russell and his sons, Oliver and Lando, who adored their “Uncle Jake”. Jake was an avid collector of military guns and artifacts. He also had an impressive collection of lighters (we have no idea why). His zest for life was evident as he enjoyed gaming, skateboards and motorcycles, as well as playing disc golf. The simplicity of “chillin” with friends and family epitomized Jake’s most loved hobby – being close to the people who meant the most to him. Some kids brought home puppies, but Jake always brought home extra siblings. Jake was a man of few words but greatly valued loyalty and integrity. He was proud to have several years of sobriety, and to have completed the Apprecticeship program for Masonry. Jake was a Journeyman Mason along with his dad, grandpa (HC), two cousins, and best friend (Chris). He was a member of the Bricklayers Local 4 Union. Jake placed the highest value on close family and friends with his most recent joy coming from his nephew Lincoln. He loved playing with and tormenting sweet Lincoln as much as possible. He also loved tormenting his sister, Dani, always about Lincoln and letting him do the things (aka anything Linc wanted). Jake wasn’t for everyone…but…everyone wasn’t for Jake; but if he loved you and considered you one of his people – he was fiercely loyal and protective for forever and always. He struggled with addiction and the many challenges that come along with that. He tried hard to overcome, but in the end, lost to the demon that haunted him. Even with these struggles and battles, sometimes won and sometimes lost, always and forever we will be proud to call him our son. We will be forever grateful to the Lord for the 31 short years He loaned him to us. Fly high our precious son, be free and unburdened. You are forever loved and never forgotten. A visitation honoring Jake’s life will take place from 4:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home. In honor of Jake’s personality and love of comfy clothes, please dress causally, including tie-dye and funny (maybe inappropriate) t-shirts.
