Jack Myers

Jack Myers, a respected businessman, devoted husband, loving father and pappy, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, Lisa Myers, of 38 years and his family. Born on April 14, 1965, in Louisville, Jack was the son of James L. Myers and Linda K. Bozell Clay. His life was marked by hard work, integrity, and a deep commitment to both his family and his craft. Jack spent his life dedicated to building both structures and relationships that would stand the test of time. Jack was the proud owner and operator of Regional Concrete and Construction, where he built a legacy of excellence through his precision, dedication, and perfectionism. His leadership and work ethic became the foundation of his company's success. This craftsmanship extended beyond his business—his home, which he built himself, stood as a testament to his skill and attention to detail. Jack had a gift for woodworking, creating everything from furniture to intricately designed wooden gas pumps, many of which became treasured gifts for his family. He was a man of many hidden talents that he kept to himself. When Jack wasn’t pouring concrete, he could be found in his garage, fishing, hunting, or working in his yard or house with his loyal dog, Benny, by his side. He always had a cup of coffee in his hand, and his smile was never without a toothpick. It was often said that he was quite the weatherman, as his knowledge of weather was extensive and always up to date—essential for planning his daily tasks. Jack was known for keeping his vehicles and equipment in pristine condition. His favorite tool, a well-known concrete rake, was often the subject of good-natured teasing but remained one of his most prized possessions. Despite illness trying to slow him down, Jack’s determination never wavered. He continued pouring concrete, mowing the grass, and tending to his expansive garden until he could no longer walk. His will to live was unshakable, and he fought fiercely against cancer, maintaining his positivity even in his final days. Even in his toughest moments, Jack remained a source of comfort, especially to his fellow patients. With a reassuring thumbs-up and a warm smile, he often said, "It's gonna be okay, buddy." Above all, he put his loved ones first, ensuring his wife and children were taken care of and never left worrying about him, even on the hardest days. During his fight, Jack held deep gratitude for the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Oncology team, often referring to them as “his nurses.” Their unwavering support and compassionate care brought him comfort and strength, and he truly cherished the bond they shared. Even on his hardest days, he never lost his sense of humor, exchanging playful banter and sharing laughter with them, ensuring smiles were shared on both sides. Jack’s faith was a guiding force in his life, and on January 18, 2025, he took a deeply meaningful step by being baptized, reaffirming his commitment to God. This moment was a source of great peace and strength for him, bringing comfort to both him and his family in his final days. A lifelong member of the Apostolic Tabernacle in Edinburgh, Jack was a man of deep faith, often sharing his beliefs and wisdom with children. He was known for his integrity, staying true to his word, honest in his trade, and steadfast in his commitments. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished pappy. Jack is survived by his mother, Linda Clay; his loving wife, Lisa Myers; and his children, Leanna (Jeremy Bultman) Myers of Shelbyville and Justin (Jennifer Colson) Myers of St. Paul. He is also survived by his brothers, James E. (Chassity) Myers of Columbus, Don Jr. (Venna) Clay of Columbia, Tennessee, and Jeff Burton of Columbus; his sisters, Jessica Myers of Brown County, Neciah Burton of Edinburgh, and Nancy (Randy) Hacker of Martinsville; his sister-in-law, Tabitha Mertz of Eaton, OH; and his mother-in-law, Patricia Mertz of Cincinnati, OH. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews. His cherished grandchildren include Jaylynne Krahn, Liam Bultman, Jackson Bultman, Jada Lee, Layne Lee, Ashton Lee, and Sarah Bultman. Jack was preceded in death by his father, James L Myers; his infant son, Nicholas Myers; his brother, Robert W. Myers; and his sisters, Debbie and Christina Myers. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Grover and Louise Myers, Ernest and Mary Bozell, and Winifred White. Jack’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family are appreciated to assist with final expenses. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Tabernacle, 701 South Main Street, Edinburgh, Indiana. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Mark Myers. Burial will take place following the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
