Elizabeth Cseszko

Elizabeth Cseszko was born 104 years ago in Hungary ? an only child to John and Maria Barath. Elizabeth?s parents brought her to America in 1920, at the age of 13, where they landed on Ellis Island. Elizabeth married John Cseszko in 1926 at Terre Haute, Indiana. They became the parents of two sons, Rudolph Julius and Robert James. Elizabeth?s parents built a business and ran it for 16 years in Terre Haute, Indiana. They sold it to John and Elizabeth, who ran it for 24 years. John and Elizabeth retired in 1969. Elizabeth became well known for her cooking. Her culinary art skills included pastries, soups, bread, and meat dishes. Her skills were not surpassed by anyone. She was equally talented in all types of needlework and pottery painting. Elizabeth loved to travel. After retiring, she took many trips around the United States. In 1972, John and Elizabeth returned to see their homeland ? Hungary ? which is now Yugoslavia. Elizabeth was very well loved by all who know her ? especially her grandchildren, in-law grandchildren, and great-grandchildren ? all of whom feel blessed to be a part of her life. Elizabeth at 100 years of age still had a zest for life. She dressed carefully in the mornings to look her best, and she was always ready to go shopping, enjoy a favorite restaurant, or visit family. Elizabeth was born and raised Catholic. Elizabeth was a soft spoken, elegant woman. She had a kind heart, a gentle soul, and a gracious smile. She continued to set a very good example of Christian morals and ethics for all who knew her. She?s been an integral part of our family, and a tremendous asset to her community. Elizabeth was a member of St Bartholomew Catholic Church, and the Hungarian Hall in Terre Haute where she had several friends and a family member, her cousin Kathy Miller. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Robert (Bernice) Cseszko, of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Kirsten (Mike) Loftis of Marysville, TN, Christian (Cary) Cseszko of Baltimore, Maryland, Emily (Jeremy) Corn of Greenwood, IN, Rachel Cseszko of Indianapolis; step-grandchildren, Brian (Dee) Gerken of China, Beth Ann (Mark) Rediker of Columbus, IN, David (Susan) Gerken of Columbus, IN; great-grandchildren, Megan and Savannah Loftis, Aiden and Zoe Corn, Lizzy Cseszko; step-great-grandchildren, Kendall Gerken, Justin and Donnie Gerken, Adam and Andrew Rediker; and great-great-grandchildren, Landen, Asa and Kelsea Gerken. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in September 1988, and a son, Rudolph, who passed at 33 years of age. SERVICES: FUNERAL - 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Marty Peter officiating. CALLING - Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 4:30 ? 7:30 p.m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. BURIAL - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana. MEMORIALS - may be made to the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
