September 8, 1964 - April 1, 2021
Theresa Marie Baugh, 56, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Theresa was born September 8, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late William C. Ernest and Mary “Mollie” (Foley) Ernest. She married Paul D. Baugh on October 15, 2011 and the two of them considered each other to be the loves of their lives. Theresa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose most important thing in life was her family and devotion to God. Her children were the center of her life and all she did was with a thought toward what was in their best interests. She was an active member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and volunteered with several community outreach programs such as Cheer Fund, The Love Chapel and the Ecumenical Assembly of Bartholomew County Churches. Theresa was driven to help people, whether in her professional career as a nurse practitioner or her personal life where she was known for her generosity and willingness to offer her time wherever she could be of help. One of her favorite quotes that she frequently shared with her family was “one kind act a day changes the world” and she was a perfect example of that thought. She was fun-loving and always ready to play a practical joke. She loved animals and her fur-babies (Sadie, Doolittle, Coco, Jack, Jersey, Caesar, Stu and The Crew) were an extension of her family. Theresa enjoyed traveling and considered Myrtle Beach and Mackinac Island her homes away from home. She loved the holidays (and included Halloween as a holiday) hosting gatherings for family and friends. Theresa will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon Monday April 5, 2021 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Chris Wadelton officiating and Deacon Bill Jones assisting. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday April 4 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to Noon before Mass at St. Bartholomew. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and St. Bartholomew Catholic Church would like to thank everyone in advance for wearing masks and practicing social distancing while attending gatherings. For those unable to attend the mass, Theresa’s service will be live streamed on the church website: saintbartholomew.org. Following the service Monday, everyone is invited to the family home for a cookout and time to further celebrate Theresa’s life. Memorial Contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society. Theresa is survived by her husband Paul D. Baugh, her children Derrick J. Thrash, Travis W.C. (Mary) Thrash, both of Columbus, Brittney L. Thrash of Jacksonville, Florida, and Logan S. (Anna) Thrash of Lovettsville, Virginia, step-children Paul R. Baugh of Fishers and Shelby J. Baugh of Bloomington, sisters Mary (William) Muir of Reading, Pennsylvania, Dot Canoles of Pasadena, Maryland, Kathleen Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida, Pat (Kevin) Keppley of Baltimore, Maryland, and Debbie Ernest of Virginia Beach, Virginia, grandchild Lillian Thrash and step-grandchildren Oliver Pratt, Sophia Baugh, Rylee Goyne, Brian Breitzke and Amelia Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
