Roberta W. Hughes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roberta W. Hughes, age 84, of Mt. Vernon, IN went to dwell with her Savior Jesus Christ on June 17, 2022. She was born in Medora, IN, February 9, 1938, the daughter of Marvin and Ruth Carroll Jewell. Roberta attended Frankfort Pilgrim College, where she met Marvin, and together they shared over fifty years of ministry with the Wesleyan Church in Southern Indiana. They pastored churches in Otwell, French Lick, Shelbyville, Evansville, and Ft. Branch. They also served in district leadership for the Indiana South Wesleyan Church for 7 years. She loved being a pastor’s wife and gave generously to others through encouraging notes, phone calls, and visits. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time), Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Forest Hills Wesleyan Church at 2801 Claremont Avenue, Evansville, IN. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time), Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN. Friends wishing may make memorials to Indiana South District Wesleyan Church Campground. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Marvin L. Hughes, and is survived by her daughters Jewell (Gene) Flick, Acacia (Mike) Peak, Jennifer (Darrin) Eaton all of Evansville, Indiana and Marlissa (Michael) Stauffer of Hilliard, Ohio; grandchildren Joshua (Emily) Flick, Amanda Flick, Alexander (Melissa) Flick, Clayton Flick, Nickie (Joe) Frye, Allee Peak, Madison (Jacob) Murphey, Abbyanna (Jake) Sexton, Emma Eaton, Ellie Eaton, Matthew Eaton, Judah Eaton, Olivia Stauffer; and four great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; siblings, Reova Meredith, Vernon Jewell, Laconda Wilson, Rita Carr, Rebecca Haney, and Reba McFall.
