Laura Jean Neville, 91, of Columbus, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at Four Seasons Healthcare Center. Jean was born on December 12, 1928, in Glasgow, KY to Riley O. Shoultz and Alta (Franklin) Shoultz. She married Wayne D. Neville on April 29, 1949, and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2001. Jean attended Clifford High School and worked at C.P. Electronics, Alma Plastics and Cummins Engine Company. She was a long-time member of Old Union United Church of Christ. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who preferred being outdoors and keeping busy. She enjoyedleague bowling and for several years was co-holder of the ladies single-game bowling record in Columbus with a score of 289. She was also an avid golfer playing in leagues and with family and friends. She especially enjoyed bowling and golfing with her grandchildren and was a great teacher for them in both sports. Jean was a member of local dominos and euchre clubsmaking many friends over the years. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Kirby Rupp officiating. Calling will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery next to her beloved husband. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana at 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201. Survivors include her son, Terry (Carol) Neville of Columbus; daughter, Dee (John) Kahlenbeck of Columbus; sister, Maude Foster of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Todd (Noelle) Kahlenbeck, Lauren (Ryan) Felde, Andrew (Libby) Neville and Matthew Neville; great-grandchildren, Payton and Jordan Felde, Adaline Kahlenbeck, and Emmett, Graham and Elliot Neville. Jean was preceded in death by her parents,her husbandand 11 brothers and sisters. Due to the new mandate limiting gatherings to 50 people, visitors are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. We encourage you to share your support with the family, being cognizant that others wish to do the same. You may be asked to wait outside the building as we comply with this mandate.
