Kyra Lynne Kenney

Kyra Lynne Kenney, 66, of Columbus, passed away February 17, 2022 at her home. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 5, 1955 to Dr. James J. Kenney Jr. and Denzel F. Owens Kenney. Kyra served in the United States Army and Indiana National Guard for 28 years. She was employed for Dr. Ben Pence as a Dental Lab Tech for 13 years, taught at the I.U. School of Dentistry and retired from Cummins Engine Company. Kyra had a very out going personality, she never met a stranger, was always willing to help out anyone in need and had a heart of gold. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Hampton officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Calling will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Inurnment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society. Survivors include her sisters, Rhonda Taggart and Caulvette Kenney both of Columbus, IN; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Krista) Taggart, Megan (Eric) Johnson, Brooke (Chris) Foster and Cody Kenney; great nieces and nephews, Rory Taggart, Emma Johnson, Skylar Rush, Quarin Bailey, Marko Williams, J.J. Foster, Madysin Perry, Calijah Kenney, Harlan Kenney and her 15 year old loving companion, Floyd-boy. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. James J. Kenny Jr; mother, Denzel F. Field; step-father, Culver Field and her step-mother, June Kenney.
