Edward Christopher Collman

Edward Christopher Collman, known affectionately as Ed, a steadfast beacon of love and hard work in the Crothersville community, passed away on November 14, 2024, in the same town where his life's journey began on May 30, 1943. Born to Harold William and Minnie Isabel Lewis Collman, Ed's roots ran as deep as the values he cultivated throughout his 81 years. Ed's life was a living testimony to the enduring power of Christ's love and commitment. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 60 years, Lorraine Lois Hanley Collman. Together, they raised a family that became his pride and joy: their children, Eddie (Marsha) Collman of Crothersville, Dwayne (Sherri) Collman of Austin, and Tena (Rick) Reardon of Salem. His legacy continued to flourish through his 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, with the joyous expectation of another on the way in February. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Lawrence Wray, Joy Laraway, and JoAnn Lockard. Ed's life was characterized by an unwavering work ethic. He poured his heart into every endeavor, whether tilling the land as a farmer, navigating roads as a truck driver, or dedicating 31 years of service to Reliance Electric, from where he retired. His colleagues knew him as a man who worked not just with his hands but with his heart, setting an example of diligence and integrity for all who knew him. A man of deep faith, Ed was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle in Crothersville since 1972. His commitment to his church was evident; he was more than just a member—he was a pillar, a friend, and a brother in faith to many. His close relationship with retired pastor Jerry Miles was emblematic of the bonds he formed, with Miles fondly remembering him by saying, "You're not just my friend, you're my buddy." His absence will be felt within the congregation he served so faithfully. Ed's life outside of work and church was filled with the simple joys of the great outdoors. He found peace in the quiet of the woods, hunting, the gentle lapping of water against his boat while fishing, and the shared laughter around a campfire during family camping trips. These moments, when he was immersed in nature and surrounded by family, brought him immense happiness. The pond behind the house will never be the same without Ed. Yet, his children and grandchildren will share many memories there reminiscing of times with Ed. Above all, Ed's devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the cornerstone of his existence. He served with a fervent heart, and his faith was the guiding light that led him through life's journey. The example he set by living his faith through action will continue to inspire those who knew him. Ed's life story will be honored in a service that reflects his life, his love, and his dedication to his family and church. The service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Lighthouse Tabernacle located at 500 North Armstrong, Crothersville, Indiana with Pastor Justin Miles officiating. A time of calling will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on November 23, 2024, at the church. Immediately following, Ed will be inurned at Union Town Cemetery near his parents. Those who would like to make a memorial donation may do so by donating to the Lighthouse Tabernacle Youth Fund, through the funeral home or directly to the church.
