Charles D. Settle

Charles D. Settle, age 87, of Columbus passed away Tuesday February 1, 2022 in Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born August 7, 1934 in Columbus, the son of the late Clifford and Loretta (Murray) Settle. He was a lifelong Columbus resident. Charles retired from Cummins Engine Company where he was a welder for 42 years. After his retirement from Cummins, he was a county park employee for several years. He was a member of the Camon Masonic Lodge #343 F & AM. Charles married Carol June Bailey on June 30, 1956 and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Settle; brothers, James C. Settle and Donald Settle and several nieces and nephews. A brother Bill Settle preceded him in death. Masonic memorial rites will begin 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 8, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home presented by Camon Lodge. He will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery following the services. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Charles' services will be streamed live on the funeral home website beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society.
