January 18, 1937 - October 5, 2021
Carol Webb passed from this life in the early morning of October 5, 2021 in Decatur, Indiana after a brief illness. She was born Carol Joy Hoevener on January 18, 1937 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of Arthur and Lela Hoevener. She married Carl Webb on May 19, 1959 and they raised their three children in Columbus, Indiana. Carol worked in administrative assistant roles throughout her life, serving at Arvin Industries, Bartholomew County School Corporation and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She also worked at Flowers by Lois. Carol loved arts and crafts and worked many years at Corner Cupboard where she taught macrame classes. Gardening became a passion for Carol later in life; she dried flowers and created beautiful flower arrangements. She and her friends often played cards; Hand & Foot being of their favorites. She was known for her delicious apple pie and was a three-time award-winner of the Best Apple Pie in Columbus. She and Carl especially loved going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and enjoyed the ambience of the mountains. Carol was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church throughout her lifetime. She served God by lovingly serving others and found much joy in many friendships and in her small group at church. Carol was a devoted mother to Lori (Greg) Williamson of Decatur, Indiana; Jon (Jan Kiel) Webb of Columbus and Michael (Mary Young) Webb of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She dearly loved her grandchildren, staying active in their lives and praying daily for each of them. She will remain beloved by Danelle (Andrew) Taylor and Tyler Williamson of Decatur; Gracie Webb of Chicago, Illinois; Kiel Webb of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Claire and Kathryn Webb of Chattanooga. Carol is survived by two sisters, Shirley Miller of Greensburg and Marilyn Christopher of Seymour, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl in July, 1999 and a brother, Leon Hoevener. A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Teike officiating. Calling will be at the church from 9:30 until the time of service with burial at Garland Brook Cemetery.
