William Lee “Bill” Calhoun, 79, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at his son’s home from Parkinson’s Disease. Bill was born on July 5, 1942 in Columbus, the son of Paul Charles Calhoun and Mary Katherine (Rouse) Calhoun. Bill graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1960 and then served his country for 4 years in the United States Air Force. He worked at Cummins, Inc. and retired as an engineer after 37 years of service. His hobbies were car restoration, golfing and he was a member of the Corvette Club. Bill is survived by his three children, Robert Calhoun, of Bradenton, Florida, Lee Calhoun and Kathy Silence, both of Columbus; his sister, Faithe Ann Welch; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and a niece Wendy Scgalski. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Jennifer (Welch) Strietelmeier. He will be cremated per his request and a celebration of life will be held later. Bill loved animals and the family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
