Margaret "Maggy" Collins Taylor

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret “Maggy” Collins Taylor, who left us peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on December 22, 1953, in Pineville, Kentucky, Maggy brought joy and warmth to all who crossed her path. She was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, whose sweet and loving spirit touched the lives of many. Maggy was the beloved mother to her two sons, Shane “Sammy” Taylor and Rocky Taylor. She is also survived by her dear sister, Hattie Collins McKay, along with one niece, many nephews, and cousins who will forever remember her kindness and dedication to the family. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Richard Collins and Pansy Hubbard Collins, and siblings Michael Collins, Inez Collins Traylor, Richard “Dickie” Collins, and Shawn Collins, all of whom she will be reunited with in spirit. Maggy was a proud 1971 Columbus High School graduate, dedicated her professional life to working as a Senior Administrative Assistant for the law firm Ice Miller and the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly for many years until her retirement. Her colleagues admired her for her work ethic, but even more so for her ability to brighten any room with her warm greetings and engaging conversations. Maggy was known for her love of cooking, a passion that blossomed into a cherished tradition with her family. She took great joy in preparing many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, where her various homemade meals, including lasagna, became many beloved recipes, often described as the best anyone had ever tasted. She also found immense pleasure in nurturing her family with delicious meals and heartfelt moments. Her passions included her love for her beloved dogs, which brought her immense joy and companionship, as she often shared stories about her dogs with friends and family. Her service will be held at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Indiana, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The calling hours will be from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by a service beginning at 4:00 PM. Her ashes will be interred at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date, allowing her family to continue celebrating her life and legacy. Maggy was a sweet and loving person who loved to greet and talk with everyone, creating lifelong friendships and connections along the way. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her spirit will continue to live on through the memories she created and the love she shared. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of kindness, love, and culinary delights will remain forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Maggy. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
