Madylene Joan Wilson

Madylene Joan Wilson, affectionately known as Joan, who was a beacon of love and spirited passion, departed from this world on January 28, 2025, at the age of 82 in Columbus, Indiana. Born on September 8, 1942, in Columbia, Kentucky, to the late Dallas and Anne Lizzie Burton Cowan, Joan led a life rich in family ties and intellectual pursuits. Joan’s journey through life was one of resilience and boundless love. She faced the pain of loss with grace, having been preceded in death by her first husband, Orville Taylor, on June 16, 1968, and her second husband, Thomas H. Wilson, whom she married on May 15, 1978, and who passed away on May 31, 2006. Her spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to be the heart and joy of her family. Though she was predeceased by her son, William Robert Taylor, and her brother, Leamon E. Cowan, as well as her grandson, Rocky D. Krebbs, and great-grandson, Brody A. Krebbs, her loving legacy is carried on by her daughter, Gail L. Krebbs of Edinburgh, Indiana. Joan cherished the moments with her grandchildren, Matthew A. Krebbs, Bryan L. Krebbs, Derick S. (Leslie) Krebbs, and James (Sarah) Stuck. Her great-grandchildren—McKenzie D. Krebbs, Kaitlyn L. Krebbs, Rylee T. Krebbs, Leni S. Krebbs, Tyler A. Krebbs, and Evie Stuck—brought immense joy to her later years, filling her days with laughter and pride. A voracious reader, Joan had a passion for absorbing the words of others and contemplating their meanings. Her love for word search puzzles reflected her joy in uncovering knowledge and pleasure in simple challenges. As an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, she shared the excitement of the race with fervor. A funeral service celebrating Joan’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Rickie Burton officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and additionally on Friday, from 11 until the time of service. Joan Wilson will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will forever be cherished by those who had the fortunate opportunity to feel her love and witness her passionate embrace of life.
