Preplanning

People are finding funeral pre-planning to be increasingly essential. The reasons that people chose pre-planning vary quite considerably. However, the common factor among those who are choosing pre-planning is a desire to feel positive about their own funerals and to lessen the burden these services can levy on family members.

Sometimes people choose to pre-plan their entire funeral. They might choose the flowers, the cemetery plot, casket and even write their own obituary. Not all of this is necessary for each pre-planned service, but we recommend you pre-plan as much of it as possible. To decide what is right for each person or couple, we suggest coming in to have a counseling/planning session with one of our family members.

During this session, we can help guide individuals or couples through the process of pre-planning. The gathering of certain bits of information is essential; when left to grieving family members, it can be one of the most difficult parts of the process. Such things as birth date, birthplace and general biographic information are helpful if not necessary. During the planning session, we will go over financial indications and help families to decide on an appropriate budget. Again, we are not a high pressure funeral home. Instead, we are here to help.

There are a number of different options when considering pre-planning. We can lead the family through the process of gathering information or, we can help people to set aside money in a funeral trust to pay for the service without choosing exactly what the service is going be like. We can be as specific or as generalized as necessary.

Regardless of choices, pre-planning is a fantastic option. In a time of need and great confusion, having a pre-planned service at the ready can be an unparalleled comfort for families. When family members face the loss of a loved one, the last thing they are ready to do is start looking at finances. Having a pre-planned service ensures that family members and loved ones are able to start the grieving process with a level of ease.
