Elsie M. Rains Lowe Partenheimer, 91, of State Street, formerly of 720 Maple St., died at 5:04 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Partenheimer was of the Baptist faith. She was the family historian and enjoyed passing down family stories. She also enjoyed gardening, working in the yard and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Born in Wayne County, Ky., June 15, 1916, Mrs. Partenheimer was the daughter of James Marcus and Cora Ann Guffey Rains. She married Hubert Arnold Lowe Oct. 10, 1931.

She is survived by sons, Willard (Barbara) Lowe, Hobert (Sally) Lowe and Allen Lowe, all of Columbus, Harley (Janice) Lowe of Alcoa, Tenn., and Don (Brenda) Lowe of Columbus; daughters, Gladys (Bill) Lovins of Waymansville, Perna (Ron) Reed of Clarksville, Tenn., Hazel Pendleton and Ann (Rick) Jackson, both of Columbus; a half brother, Willie Dishman of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 14, 1963; a son, Ernie Eugene Lowe; daughters, Jane Colleen Lowe and Josephine McMillian; brothers, Everett, Kelly and Jesse Hubert Rains; sisters, Edna Plowman and Mable Jones; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Information

FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Eliah Johnson officiating.

VISITATION: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday.

BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
